SOS Nursery School Luang Prabang

The SOS Nursery School provides now 94 kids in total in which 7 from the SOS Children's Village Luang Prabang, 77 come from neighbourhood, especially 10 of them, from very poor families, obtain the scholarship and lunches which are prepared and taken care of by our SOS Mothers.

 

 

SOS Primary and Secondary School Luang Prabang

The combined SOS Primary and Secondary School opened in 2003 and is able to give education to up to 650 children in twelve classes. 

Update from 2008:

In the year 2008, 361 students attending in different classes including 148 SOS Children and 59 scholarship students they are from poor neighbor families, there are 23 teachers in total, 6 teachers at primary: 8 teachers at lower secondary and 9 teachers for upper secondary.

Every year before the new academic year started, the teachers and co-workers meeting was arranged in order to review the previous works and discuss plan on the coming year, after that all the teachers wrote their teaching plan lessons, our 2 primary teachers and 3 second teachers level were sent to integrated with many programmes such as writing the new lesson plan, making the teaching materials, teaching new style which arranged by educational office of district and educational department of province. Some of our teachers also were sent to observe and exchange knowledge with public school.

Beside that, we also provided our SOS children who were weak learning with additional classes during their weekend in order to tutor their weak subjects.

As usual, our school year was full of activities, such as our class study trips through the province, demonstrating our young girls and boys how to do sewing and cooking, our participation in the sports and cultural exchanges of the public school association and many other wonderful performances. Some of our young boys and girls also participated in training of drug and HIV problem.

In our school we have many activities such as organised many seminars for teachers and staffs for improving working to be better in the future, for students after teaching and learning we arranged the extra programme for them such as art and music science game and sport competition between student and students, teachers and students and with other schools in province. Leading our students to do the gardening, for the important days we both celebrated: International New Year, Lao New Year, Woman’s Day, Children’s Day, SOS Day and etc.

SOS Nursery School Pakse SOS Nursery School Pakse Laos

In the academic year 2008-09, we have had a head mistress of the SOS Nursery School, four teachers and one helper. They take responsibility for 103 students (61 girls, 42 boys) who are spread across four classes from pre-nursery school class up to year 3.  Included in this number, we have seven children from the SOS Children's Village Pakse

(4 girls, 3 boys), seven scholarships (2 girls, 5 boys) and 89 local children (55 girls, 34 boys). So, we can conclude that our nursery school operates not for our SOS children only, but for local children around the SOS Children’s Village as well.  Besides that, we help children from poor families near the SOS Children's Village.

 

Our nursery school takes method of teaching by curriculum of Ministry of Education. In the pass year, it is popular.  Our co-workers here take high responsibility on duty and they try all effort to improve, to develop their works. On the competition of art was held educational district, our SOS Nursery School has got first, second, third prize on singing and dancing. The activities for children were organised mostly on important days such as on International Children’s Day (1st June), on National Teacher’s Day….which were interested by participation of child parents. The children enjoyed dancing, singing, playing games and sports. They have sometimes sight seeing in the town, temples and historic monuments. 

SOS School Pakse LaosSOS Primary and Secondary School Pakse

The combined SOS Primary and secondary School opened in 1999. There are nearly 700 pupils, 360 in primary and 320 in secondary, in 29 classes.

Update from 2008:

The SOS School Pakse has three systems : Primary, lower/ upper secondary school at the end of this year 2008 there are 691 students, 344 boys and 347 girls including 123 SOS students with 76 boys and 46 girls, 91 scholarship students with 41 boys and 50 girls. 

Our teachers pay more attention about teaching, educating and helping by their guardian and students pay attention about their study so  this year we could have many excellent  students and we sent to have the exam in competition in the level of Group, district and province so  many times and every times we could won the First , Second and third reward, for SOS students name. Our school is the first school in Champasak province that most of people would like to send their children to learn here. 

Our students have a lot activities to do such as: celebration the  National teacher’s day  we have many games for students to do: playing sport , wrote the poem, sing a song and present bunch of flower to their teachers and other important day such as: celebration the National’s day National children’s day, Women’s day and Lao New year.  For The art performance we have three programme to perform: The National dance, Lam (Lao folk song) and Lao song ,sometime we went to perform for competition or for a welcome guest and on the important ceremony for example: went to perform in competition. 

Teachers went to present flower for the senior teachers at education office on the National teacher’s days...

SOS Nursery School Samneua

Has provided 60 children in total in which 58 small children come from outside and ten Scholarship children. 

SOS Primary and Secondary School Samneua

The combined SOS Primary and Secondary School opened in 2005, with the capacity for 200 pupils in eight classes. In its first full year there were 115 pupils enrolled.

Update from 2008:

  • Students:The total number of 260 the students with 113 girls and 147 boys including 98 SOS Children, 35 scholarship students from poor families around our school
  • Education:
The target of the SOS School for education to students there are 5 targets such as: 
  1. behaviour education
  2. mind education
  3. labour education
  4. physical education
  5. art education
  • For this year we have sent some of our teachers to join with government teachers train of new method of teaching and learning       
  • We are teaching to the excellent students of P5, S3 and S6 and we also teaching to SOS students which are weak at learning for 3 hours/week.
  • Activities:-
  • All teachers participated with Village on celebration of SOS Day
  • Teachers participated to the boat racing festival in Samneua district
  • Regularly activities and sports were usually held in our school.

SOS Nursery School Savannakhet

Located in the same area and has provided now 59 children in total in which 27 came from outside and 6 of them from very poor family obtained the scholarship and lunches prepared by our SOS mothers.

The activities in the weekends to clean off the grass, to plant flowers, to draw, to paint the pictures. In important days (on International New Year, on SOS Mothers’s Day, on International Children’s Day, on SOS Day and religious and traditional festivals) were also organised for mothers and children: they needed sometime to relax especially on vacation at the natural places followed by a funny picnic and to visit the historical museum, the famous pagoda of the province (That Inhang).

SOS Nursery School Vietianne

The school year 2008-09, we have 03 classes for nursery school and one class for pre-nursery school. The totSOS Nursery School Vientiane Laosal number of kids is 103 (48 girls and 55 boys) 10 (2 girls and 8 boys) are from the SOS Children's Village Vietianne, 86 outsiders kids (46 girls and 47 boys) from the villages surrounding our village. We had a music dance group sometime we had a music dance contest among other nursery schools. The teachers and the child’s guardians had a meeting regularly to exchange experiences and getting more information of child’s development, it makes very happy and more understanding between teachers and guardians.

SOS Primary and Secondary School Vientiane

The combined SOS Primary and Secondary School opened in 1997. There are about 400 pupils, 180 in primary and 220 in secondary

Update from 2008:

The SOS School at Vientiane has three systems: Primary, lower/ upper secondary school.  At the end of this year 2008 there are 412 students, 200 boys and 212 girls including 98 SOS students with 69 boys and 29 girls, 8 (2 boys and 6 girls) scholarship students.

Our teachers pay more attention about teaching, educating and helping by their guardian and students pay attention about their study so this year we could have many excellent students and we sent to have the exam in competition in the level of Group, district and province so many times. (One SOS boy was the first excellent students in Xaythany district)

SOS Nursery School XiengkhouangSOS Nursery School Xiengkhouang Laos

In the academic year 2008, our SOS Nursery School at Xiengkhouang has provided 104 kids in which 101 come from neighbourhood and 09 of them from the very poor families obtain the scholarship and lunched prepared by our SOS mothers.

SOS Primary and Secondary School Xiengkhouang

The combined SOS Primary and Secondary School opened in 1998 and gives primary and secondary education to up to 1,100 pupils. The school consists of 22 classrooms, laboratories, a library, a service and administration area, a canteen, a sickroom and workshops. It also has a football field.

Update from 2008:

The total number of 792 the students with 464 girls and 428 boys (Including 125 SOS Children, 98 from poor families who obtain scholarship)

In  academic  year  2007 ,792 students  attended in this school,  whom 125  were  children from the SOS Children's Village and 98 were poor Students in free cost of studying . Except the teaching and studying main subjects as in other school our students have learned some extra subjects such as weaving, computer, sewing, seeding, art performance and toy performance for developing   their   Knowledge it’s very important for their future.

Education: 

Main the target of our school education the student in 5 targets: as behaviour education, mind education, labor education, physical education and art education.  We usually had meeting with guardians of the students looking the ways to help children about education or development of knowledge as possible.

Every working  it  making  development  plan  better as: sending the teachers went to training about the activities students at Vientiane 4 teachers budget of ministry education training in the province 6 times budget of the school  over  meeting  parents of the students for feedback about studying – teaching and looking the ways for the children 2 times in the school. We are still continuing    “Friends help Friends”

team for supported and helping together in student group because successfully in the school and outside the schools.  The activities art team still continue in our school performance in the province were famous and got appropriate when to join art in the school and outside the school.

 

This project “Friends help Friends” in this year is very important to motivate students to far away from drugs and help very much for their study at schools.
