Description of SOS Social Centre/FSP:
The Family Strengthening Programme started in November 2006. Since then the programme has grown steadily. A selection procedure for beneficiaries was identified, a stakeholder analysis was conducted and consultations with institutions that may be significantly interested in the programme were made. These consultations included meetings with representatives from the Non Governmental Organization (NGO’s), Zanzibar AIDS Commission (ZAC), Zanzibar Support Orphans (ZASO), Zanzibar Association of People Living with AIDS (ZAPHA+), and other community based organizations.
The programme was officially inaugurated in June 2007 with the total of 56 beneficiaries in 8 families.
