File:Trivial knots 3D.png

Summary

Description This picture shows two trivial knots in the knot theory (mathematics). The right one is the usual circle. On the other hand, the left one resembles to the trefoil knot. They have the same projection if one neglects the vertical relationship of the string at intersections. However, slight difference of string arrangement at intersection makes the one drawn here the trivial knot, i.e. one can untie the knot to the circle without splitting the string. This picture presents both knots as 3D graphics to illustrate the arrangement of the strings.
