English: Tribute giraffe from Bengala (Bengal), by Shen Du (沈度) in 1414. A detailed study of this picture (in a reproduction by Chen Tingbi) and the text on it, as well as of other Chinese paintings of giraffes, is given in: J.J.L. Duyvendak, " The True Dates of the Chinese Maritime Expeditions in the Early Fifteenth Century". T'oung Pao, Second Series, Vol. 34, Livr. 5 (1939), pp. 341-413.
