It was requested that this image be deleted as it has been moved to Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:LouisLePrinceFirstFilmEver RoundhayGardenScene.png but this request could not be completed because commons image-history notes that there are two different images here; they differ by resolution, so need to clarify: either one is a derivative of the other (rescale or retouch but without explanation of the change and the later editor) or they are two separate screenshots of the original. We need to keep the original and perhaps the higher-resolution one (and at a different name if those wind up being two separate images). Once this issue has been resolved, please retag it as {{ now commons}}. |
Summary
A screenshot of Roundhay Garden Scene by the Frenchman Louis Le Prince. The world's first film, shot on 14 October 1888 at Oakwood Grange in Roundhay, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. The home of Joseph and Sarah Whitley, the in-laws of Louis Le Prince. Note that Sarah (shown second from right) died on 24 October 1888, only 10 days after being filmed in the movie.
