English: Note - a composite portrait of the Bourbon succession since Henri IV (with Louis XIII he is seen as a bust) with copies of portraits made at different dates. The female figure is Louis XV's governess, the Duchesse de Ventadour, who commissioned the work - not Mme de Maintenon as used to be claimed. Nor is the child the duc de Bretagne, as sometimes said, but the infant Louis XV.evidence for this last sentence ?

Deutsch: Dargestellte Personen: sitzend Louis XIV., dessen ältester Sohn Louis „le Grand Dauphin“, dessen ältester Sohn Louis Herzog von Burgund und wiederum dessen ältester Sohn Louis XV mit seiner Gouvernante der Herzogin von Ventadour. Also Louis XIV. mit seinem Sohn, Enkel und Urenkel. Anm.: keiner von diesen erbte die Krone; erst der jüngste Sohn des Herzogs von Burgund bestieg als Louis XV. den Thron.
