English: Future President Richard Nixon makes his first newspaper appearance, 1916. This image appears in his political memoir, In the Arena on the third unnumbered photo page following page 192. In the image caption, Nixon states, "The first time my picture appeared in the paper was in 1916. My mother gave us a nickel each to put in a collection basket for war orphans, and a photographer snapped our picture.
