Description | PLEASE, no multi invitations, glitters or self promotion in your comments. My photos are FREE for anyone to use, just give me credit and it would be nice if you let me know. Thanks - NONE OF MY PICTURES ARE HDR. The Jamia Masjid (mosque) of Delhi is the largest, finest and is among the most famous mosques of India, built by Shah Jahan, the Mughal Emperor in the year 1648 and took six years to complete. The main mosque is crowned by three onion shaped domes made of white marble and inlaid with stripes of black slate. On the north and south of the complex are two 130 feet high minarets. Jama Masjid is not only architecturally beautiful, but also a place of great religious significance as it houses a hair from the beard of the Prophet and also a chapter of the Holy Quran written by him. |
