English: This 1970 photograph depicts an infant presented with symptoms indicative of w:en:Kwashiorkor, a dietary protein deficiency, as well as a Vitamin B deficiency. Kwashiorkor sufferers, i.e., inadequate dietary protein intake, show signs of thinning hair or “Flag Sign”, edema, inadequate growth, and weight loss. Note the angular stomatitis indicative of an accompanying Vitamin B deficiency as well. 1824-71T, Box 5.7DD
