Description

Deutsch: Das Urteil des Paris ist ein Meisterwerk der Zusammenarbeit Raffaels und Raimondis. Der Stich geht auf verlorene Zeichnungen des Meisters zurück und erzählt die Geschichte des trojanischen Königsohns Paris. Die drei Göttinnen Hera, Aphrodite und Athene stritten darüber, wer wohl die Schönste sei und Paris sollte ein Urteil fällen: Er entschied sich für Aphrodite und überreichte ihr zum Zeichen einen Apfel. Das von der Antike inspirierte Bild demonstriert die Fähigkeit Raffaels, die von ihm genau studierte menschliche Proportion und Anatomie in den zahlreichen Akten darzustellen und diese souverän in einer meisterhaften Komposition zu verschiedenen Gruppen anzuordnen.

Die Szene rechts in Vordergrund diente Éduoard Manet als Vorlage für sein Gemälde von 1863 Das Frühstück im Grünen Le déjeuner sur l'herbe.
